2016 has been one rollercoaster of a year, but it sure has been good to us! Join us as we look back on some of the highlights of the year behind us, and welcome 2017 with open arms!
We kicked off 2016 in style with the great news that we were shortlisted for the Gift Of The Year 2016 in the Home Fragrance Category for our Couture Range. We were delighted with this achievement and it was a great way to enter the new year!
On the trade side of things, we sure got around! We visited the Spring & Autumn Fair in Birmingham, Ambiente in Frankfurt, and ofcourse closer to home at Scotlands Trade Fair in Glasgow. We met buyers and customers whom we still maintain a strong relationship with - our customer care is something we have always been proud of! Further afield, we also established an exciting relationship with La Floma, now our distributor in South Korea. Our Shearer Korea store opened in Seoul in January and has been popular since.
Moving through the year, we also launched our new V&A Collection including scents of Windrush, Nympheas and Poppies. Inspired by arts and crafts furnishing designers, this collection truly plays our part in British design history.
In May we had fashion at our front door with the Glasgow Style Mile taking place on Buchanan Street. With our shop at Princes Square sitting perfectly on the front row of the runway, we of course had to be involved! Our supermodel worthy stylish Couture scents definitely took scent-er stage!
Autumn brought lots of newness, ready for us to enter candle season with a bang! We launched our new on trend Signature Couture and Limited Edition Textured Elements Collections in September, and October brought the release of our delicious new festive Cranberry & Ginger scent - if you've not tried it yet you're missing out!
November and December were busy months for us in the lead up to the most wonderful time of the year! We had our Scent in the City event at our new Princes Square store (now on the 1st floor) which we invited bloggers and media to for an evening of festive delights. Our wreath demonstration with Ruby Flowers also took place at Princes Square as part of the shopping centre's Festive Extravaganza, and we held our popular festive shopping day at our Govan Candle Store as well as visiting the Country Living Fair with some of our favourite festive scents.
There was excitement all around when we opened our brand new Outlet Store at the Forge Shopping Centre in Glasgow last month. The new store boasts some great offers and deals, so pop in if you fancy grabbing yourself a bargain!
We were honoured when we were not only selected as finalists for the Herald Family Business Awards, but were commendated on the night in the category of small/medium business. This is an achievement we are extremely proud of as our family values remain as strong as they were back when Shearer Candles was established in 1897.
2016 has been an amazing year for us and we hope you'll join us on our journey throughout 2017. We have lots of exciting plans in the pipeline including new scents and products launching soon, not forgetting our 120th anniversary coming up!
